Job Responsibilities: • Provide telecommunication engineering support of primary and auxiliary equipment to include, but not limited to: • Engineer, troubleshoot, and optimize theater level communications systems as well as systems employed in theater • Research current and emergent technologies and advising/informing the government on technical specifications, limitations, potential implementation, and recommending courses of action • Design, troubleshoot, and optimize Satellite network connectivity, telephone switching equipment, video teleconferencing, microwave networks, VHF/UHF Radio, and IP Networking & IP based technology • Organize and establish engineering standards & standard solutions; coordinate work, and manage tasks • Design solutions, troubleshoot, and optimize existing networks utilizing multiplexing and Standard Military Cryptographic Equipment • Engineer solutions utilizing Digital Signal Processing, Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA), Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) Timing/ Encryption, IP Based transmission technologies and encryption • Be familiar with DoD & Air Force Information Assurance/ Protection standards, Communications Security Practices • Brief commanders on plans and/or status of projects and provide summaries as required by the task order • Design integrated systems using numerous types of electronic or mechanical components and assure product interoperability. • Coordinate project schedules to ensure the efficient usage of available resources. • Travel to installation sites to perform pre-installation surveys and on-site installation management. • Analyze and evaluate existing communications networks and infrastructure. • Calculate and recommend upgrades or restructuring of equipment or routing to meet emerging requirements. • Write detailed engineering project support plans and installation instructions. Establishes goals, and evaluates all project modifications to ensure they meet the desired project operational objectives. • Review new equipment to ensure its interoperability with existing products and sustainability for long term maintenance support. • Produce project timelines on macro and micro levels and track individual projects to completion while maintaining the status of each. • Create project budgets and modify system capabilities to fit within available funds. • Research military and commercial equipment by reviewing datasheets, white papers. • Coordinate with the Government the procurement of materials and monitor the process to include fund allocation, purchase re-quest submission, part manufacturing, and delivery timelines • Utilize multidisciplinary experience to design communications networks from the ground up to include voice, data, radar, and special circuit distribution; • Create multiplexing schemes to include card selection; physical and logical bandwidth allocation, and off/intra-site connections; • Design parallel telephone and data networks and their associated cable plant distributions; the expertise to segregate data networks using IP schemes and subnetting; • Evaluate and design telephone networks; establish dial tables; set precedence and structure communities of interest; • Calculate radio frequency and public warning siren coverage plots Job Requirements: • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical/electronics/computer engineering from an accredited university required • Minimum of ten (10) years of “hands on” work experience in support of communications electronic systems or equipment.
